CARPE DIEM - Animation by Dimitri Kozma

Carpe Diem is a funny and cute animated music video created by Dimitri Kozma with the music of Brazilian musician Syd Back and his band Antiphona.

The movie shows a journey following Blue and his new friend Pink in a surreal and colorful world.

Fun for all ages. Enjoy!

I've made this video mixing many animation techniques, like stop motion with clay animation, graphic animation, 3D computer graphics, 2D handmade, cutout animation, among others.

You can buy the CD and download the music for free visiting the Antiphona website here.

Dynamic Robot Scene - CGI by Dimitri Kozma

This is a scene created to ad the Dynamic Room company. The Dynamic Robots doing his works.

That's some reviews of this illustration posted in a art website:

"Very Pixar"
"This is one of those really interesting shots where you double-think yourself into enjoying looking at it. I mean, we're not fooled: this is clearly a 3D model, but our minds look past that and become so engrossed in the characters and their actions that the medium is completely moot. The use of only four colors (white, grey, blue, red) in your materials is also very nice, and the models are actually pretty low-detail, but the image is still so captivating. I really like it!"

"interesting..."
"you brought the fact that we "people" use mainly just use one of our senses to do mostly everything we do. but then you added something else... our reliance on our eyes is what binds our other senses together in a graceful singularity of fluid action. nice job!!! :D"

Surrealidade - Step by Step of Creation

This is a very old step by step image sequence. It's a character of "Lamp Woman", part of my old game "Surrealidade", released in 1999. This game teach about the theories of surrealism using a adventure Myst-Like interface.
The images illustrate the creative process. The first draft, the modeling and the final image on the game.

Bizarre Hunchback Creature on Mudbox

This is my second experiment modeling on Autodesk Mudbox. This time I've tried a strange hunchback monster, with a face on his chest. This is my first full body test on this software. It's look like a good looking guy, I liked him. :-)

To paint textures is very instintive, is like painting a real sculpture. The modeling is not so easy as ZBrush, but with some training can be fine.

Zombie Modeling on Autodesk Mudbox - First Impressions

This is my very first test on Autodesk software to modeling like clay called Mudbox. It's like ZBrush, but the interface is a little different. Personally I think it's a promising software, who need a little improvement on interface. The export feature is better than ZBrush, work very well.
The painting feature is good and precise too. I recommend take a look at Mudbox. On future it will be a great tool.

This zombie is my first experiment. Took me about 1 hour to modeling and texture painting this, just as a test. It's not perfect, but looks interesting.

"The Collector" WON Festival do Minuto Award!

My new animation, "The Collector", was just awarded for the best movie on the famous brazilian movie festival called "Festival do Minuto".

I'm very proud for this prize and recognition for my work. :-)

This festival is very important and accept short movies up to 1 minute length.

Besides the bizarre factor, the animation was created with a second layer of interpretation as a critical appreciation of the superfluous and disposable. The rampant consumism and useless. I hope people understand the message.

To create the animation, I used a mixture of handmade character, composition and scenarios in CGI, which gives a different style of art.

Tough Guy on ZBrush Modeling

I've created a new modeling on ZBrush software with this tough guy. I'm new on this software, but I like the way it works, like a real life clay modeling. Took me about one our to make this face. I think this guy is a good character for a action game maybe.

No texture, just to see the sculpture as it is. Click to enlarge.

Monster - ZBrush modeling

A new ZBrush CGI character made to practice digital sculpture. This time I've tried a monster. No project or previous draw or study, I just start the software with a simple ball and made this monster in a couple of hours.

The image don't have any kind of texture, it's only the 3D mesh, to show the details about the model, like a unpainted sculpture. Look like a little bad, but it's only a experiment...

I hope you like it. Click to enlarge.

Fat Guy - ZBrush modeling by Dimitri Kozma

Another quick experiment with ZBrush Tool. This time I have made a more cartoonish character, a fat guy, and apply some texture on him. All the process took about 2 work hour.

CGI Woman - ZBrush modeling by Dimitri Kozma

This is a woman made entirely on ZBrush software. I'm new in this program, but I'm thinking she is a very good work of art. Her lines are delicate and the result is a beautiful and attractive woman (bald, but beautiful).

No texture, just to see the sculpture as it is. The entire work take about 1 hour of work. Work with this software is work almost with real clay, and give total freedom for the sculptor.

Old Man - First ZBrush modeling by Dimitri Kozma

Today I started to work with this incredible CGI modeling software called ZBrush. I really appreciate the first digital sculpture that I have made, very organic and full of details. As a first look in the software, I think the result is pretty good.

I started this modeling from a blank screen, direct on software, no roughs or preview work. The details are best apply on the final texture, with bump mapping and other effects, but for this test, I didn't use any texture, just want to do the object with basic material and no lights and rendering effects, to show the detail level of the sculpture.
